Ethan's first swing

I had forgotten when this was taken but i enjoyed myself with Ethan. It was the first and last swing at this park, cos the swing is no longer at the park, when i happen to pass by the park.
Such a pity.. Glad Ethan tried on the swing..

the missing gap between 6 and 10...

Wow..it's 4 months since the last post, and we are counting down to the Big Bash in Oct. Let's do a quick recap what happened to us and our boy during this missing months...

1. 1st visit to the zoo

2. visit to Changi T3

3. Added "Coen" (meaning = experienced advisor) to his name to avoid identity confusion in future (fianl name is Ethan Coen Chan, courtesy of mama Chan)

4. learning to stand and enjoying dashing/exploring the house in his walker

5. started to babble, making all sorts of sounds and funny facial expressions.

6. learned to clap his hands when we sang "ABC" and "Clap your hand" songs etc



7. getting hooked on Ah Ma's yummy and nutritious porridge once he started solids

8. had a 39C fever due to H1 bug (still dunno how he got it?!)



9. visit to Hort Park

6 months and counting

Dad's musings:

whoa, time really flies when there's a new member in the family. everyday seems to become a routine, which is good in a sense that we can manage our time better.

baby wakes up at 7+ >> feed him/prepare for work >> send him to in laws >> work >> have dinner at in laws and back to home after 8 >> prep him to sleep at 9+

thank God that Yuheng started and has kept to this routine after we skipped the last midnight feeding in the 4th month. Although there are times he woke up suddenly in the middle of the nite (due to teething, discomfort etc), we are thankful that most of the time he is able to sleep through to the next day, giving us some respite and personal time with one another.

God has been gracious to us, and has blessed us with such a cute and lovely boy. Ethan is getting more active nowadays and likes to crawl a lot. He's learnt a new trick or two lately, and has started to roll back and forth. His current joy is learning to do "push ups" (the prelude to the Crawl), and it always bring a smile to us when we see him swinging in this position, trying to stable himself or move :P

we also observed that he likes actions that provides the adrenalin rush eg lifting him up & down. It never fails to bring a chuckle from him :) He's continued making all kinds of sounds, of which he enjoyed gurgling his saliva most.

宇恒‘s milestones - 1st Christmas and Baptism

Dad's ramblings:

25th December 2008 is a new milestone for 宇恒. This is his 1st Christmas and also the day that he is baptised. Both of us had a busy morning getting him washed up and prepared for his "big" day, and thank God that he didn't cry or got cranky during the baptism :)

The baptism reminded us as parents to be responsible and accountable for his spiritual growth and to guide him in the Lord's ways during his formative years.

2 months later...

Dad's musings:

hehe, it's been almost 2 months since the last post, cos papa Chan been busy with his late night shifts and too tired/unmotivated to post new blogs (or too busy exploring/playing with his new toy, haha)

updates...
Anyway, Ethan has just past his 2 month milestone, and it's amazing to see how he has changed. Those who saw him remarked about his size when compared to his peers, esp with his chubby cheeks, haha. Indeed, he's getting heavier and taller (6kg and approx 63cm as of 15 Dec), and gives papa & mama Chan free weight training sessions everyday :P

Thank God that He has continued to bless mama Chan with sufficient milk to satisfy the growing babe, who must be applauded for her perseverance despite her multiple neck/shoulder pain and lack of sleep (esp after she return to work). no wonder they say mums are the greatest :o) 3 cheers for the great mama Chan!

Transformation..
As mentioned, baby Ethan has changed much. He has started to make all kinds of sounds (coos and ahhs etc), and becoming more vocal when hunger strikes (can be quite deafening and 凄凉). can really get to our nerves when he becomes cranky and scream his lungs out.

One of other significant changes that happened recently is to see Ethan smile..it really melt our hearts when we see him smile in joy, esp when he wakes up in the morning or when we turn on his musical mobile. He will just track the toys and chuckle by himself :D


another more wonderful thing that happened is that he finally managed to sleep thru the night for the past 2 days (from midnite to 7am). yeah! good news for us as we finally can catch up on the sleep, and papa Chan can be relieved of nite duties :P

Afternote - meaning of name (continued)
Just found out that the name Ethan also appeared in 1 Kings 5:31, and was told by Zhisheng that he was a wise man in OT (Ethan the Ezrahite in 1 Kings 4:30-31). This is the same person who wrote Psalms 89

Ethan's Full month celebration - 15 Nov 08

Dad's ramblings..

Baby Chan had his full month celebration at home with family and relatives. Ordered the cakes and gifts from Choz and bought some kuehs from the parents of Pauline's friend (at Toa Payoh Lor 1 market - must check out the soon kueh, very nice)

counting down..1 month

Dad's musings:
parenting is tough..no doubt about it..sleepless nights, endless crying, feeding, less time for my games etc. These are challenges that we faced, but the joy of seeing the baby grow outweighs the price to pay :)

Ethan is now 3 wks + and reaching his 1st month milestone in a week's time (15 Nov). time really flies when most of the time is spent feeding and caring for the baby :) Both of us are slowly getting the hang of parenthood, while we learn to tackle the challenges that come with the help of family and church mates.

God has been gracious thru the gifts and well wishes from family and friends. This reminded us not to worry about our future but trust Him to provide our daily needs. ganbatte!
